About the project

I started I Will Read To You to help me with two ambitions: to learn more about poetry (the reading and writing of which was a hobby of mine at the time) and to retrain my vocal performance muscles following some jaw and allergy issues.

I was already making two other podcasts (Let’s Know Things and Brain Lenses) when I started IWRTY, but those were rent-paying endeavors, and I wanted something experimental and casual so I could exercise my biological podcasting equipment in a low-stress, non-work setting.

Thus, this new podcast was born and for a year I perused public-domain catalogs for works that spoke to me in some way, then performed them into my microphone.

I published 144 episodes between September 2021 and October 2022, then ended the show when I no longer had enough time to sustain its publishing rhythm, and my jaw and voice were back in tip-top shape.
