About the project
I started Exile Lifestyle in 2009, just before leaving Los Angeles to travel full-time. I started it as a place to share what I was learning, and as an excuse to connect with people in the places I would be visiting. It’s also where, every four months, people voted on which country I would move to next. That experiment took me through dozens of countries (~65 total) and became the basis for several books, talks, and related projects.
My approach to and pace of travel has changed, but the site remains the permanent home for my writings on personal growth, relationships, entrepreneurship, culture, travel, and the ongoing work of building a life intentionally.
Exile Lifestyle has done more to shape my life and who I am as a person than anything else I’ve ever made or done. I would not be who and where I am today had I not started this blog.

Exiles
I wrote this serialized online travelogue from the road. Subscribers paid five dollars per month and received travel essays, stories, and free or discounted books. This sub-project was born from the ashes of Ebookling (which we expanded to include paid serialization tools), but I retired it when the payment infrastructure underpinning those tools became too awkward and expensive.
