About the project
I founded Ebookling as part of a three-person team to give independent authors and publishers a simpler way to sell digital work. Creators could publish through a curated marketplace, use affiliate links that automatically shared revenue, and experiment with serialized and subscription-based formats.
The platform officially launched in February 2011 and sold more than a thousand ebooks in its first two weeks. We eventually retired it rather than try to match the infrastructure of much larger companies entering the same space. We toyed with the idea of a successor project called Publus, though, and that concept informed the shape of Asymmetrical Press.
